A cute cat named Merlin has the loudest purr by a domestic cat. The rescue cat is from Torquay, Devon in the U.K. His owners are Tracy Westwood and her daughter Alice.
The Guinness World Records (GWR) team measured Merlin's loud purr and found it reached 67.8 decibels, beating the previous record of 67.68 decibels set by a cat named Smokey in 2011.Tracy told GWR, "Occasionally when he's really loud I have to repeat myself. When you’re watching films you have to turn the telly up or put him out of the room, if he's eating he'll purr loudly. I can hear him when I'm drying my hair."
